Orders placed after 9/4 will ship on 9/13 as soon as I'm back. Your guitar will be packed with the same care as always — I'll still be answering messages while I'm out. Thanks for understanding!

This is one of those guitars where the story is every bit as interesting as the instrument itself. This Fender Custom Shop Telecaster is the Andorra guitar from Andy Mooney’s World Stamp / Imagine Collection, a project built around Mooney’s two longtime loves: guitars and stamp collecting. Each country received its own Telecaster covered in genuine postage stamps from that country, making this particular Andorra example effectively its own individual piece within the collection.

The background on these is fantastic. Andy Mooney has explained that when he immigrated to the United States in 1984, two of the things he brought with him were a Fender acoustic guitar from his father and the stamp collection they had worked on together. Years later, he covered a guitar with some of his UK stamps almost on a whim. People responded to it, he started doing other countries, and the idea eventually grew into a collection representing countries around the world.

Each guitar uses roughly 100 stamps, with around 20,000 stamps used across the broader project. Andy also brought his daughter Rose Mooney into the idea and asked her to design a neckplate symbolizing peace. Rather than the expected dove, she chose the simple flower you see on the back of this guitar. Mooney ultimately called the project the Imagine Collection, tying it to the idea of people from different countries coming together rather than being divided by them.

That makes this Andorra Tele much more than somebody simply applying stamps to a guitar. The entire top is a collage of vintage Andorran postage, with different colors, denominations, artwork and eras layered together underneath the clear finish. You can sit and look at it for a while and keep finding different details. The white/parchment guard and cream-colored back and sides were a great choice because they let the stamps completely dominate the front without making the guitar look overly busy.

This particular example is also exceptionally clean. It has spent its life in a display case and essentially presents like a new guitar. I found no notable dings, scratches or chips during inspection. The body, neck, backside, fretboard and frets all inspected as excellent.

One of the coolest details on this one is the Andy Mooney signature on the back of the headstock, along with his signature on the included Fender Certificate of Authenticity. With a guitar that exists primarily because of Mooney’s own personal collection and story, having his signature physically on the instrument adds quite a bit to the collectible side of it.

Underneath all of that artwork, though, Fender still built these to be completely functional Custom Shop guitars. This one has an alder body, a satin-finished maple neck with a Modern C profile, slab rosewood board, 9.5" radius and 22 jumbo frets. The neck feels relatively slim and easy in the hand rather than chunky, and the current setup is right where I would want it. Medium action, clean intonation and nothing needed when it came across my bench.

The Yosemite Tele pickups were another pleasant surprise. They have the attack and definition I want from a Tele, but there is enough fullness behind them that the guitar never feels brittle. The bridge still has that sharp Tele bite, the neck has a warmer and rounder voice, and the middle position blends the two really nicely. I completely tested the electronics and everything operates exactly as it should.

At 8.36 pounds on my scale, it has a little substance to it without feeling unreasonable for a Telecaster.

What stood out to me:

Fender Custom Shop Andy Mooney World Stamp Collection Telecaster

Andorra country example

Part of Andy Mooney’s Imagine Collection

Genuine Andorran postage stamps incorporated throughout the top

Roughly 100 stamps were used on each guitar in the collection

One of the individual country guitars from the worldwide project

Andy Mooney signature on the back of the headstock

Andy Mooney-signed Fender Certificate of Authenticity

Peace-symbol flower neckplate designed by Rose Mooney

Alder body

Gloss-finished stamped top

Maple Modern C neck

Satin neck finish

Slab rosewood fingerboard

9.5" radius

22 jumbo frets

Yosemite Telecaster single-coils

Three-way switching

Neck feels slim and very comfortable

Current setup passed inspection

Spot-on intonation

Excellent fret condition

Electronics fully tested and working properly

8.36 pounds on my scale

Essentially display-kept condition

No notable dings, scratches or chips

Original Fender Custom Shop hardshell case

Complete original case candy

The collectible angle is what initially makes this guitar interesting, but I think the fact that Fender made these legitimately good-playing Telecasters is what makes the project work. You could absolutely keep it displayed as a piece of Fender history, but nothing about it feels like a prop when you actually plug it in and play it.

I also really like that the Andorra example is immediately identifiable without needing a plaque or serial-number explanation. The stamps themselves tell you what this guitar represents. Add the Mooney signatures, the flower neckplate, the COA and the unusually complete condition, and there is a lot here for someone who collects the stranger corners of Fender Custom Shop history.

Like all my guitars, this one’s been cared for and dialed in—no guesswork, no surprises, just a great instrument that’s ready to play. I personally inspect and test every guitar before it ships, making sure it’s in the exact condition I’d want to receive myself. These guitars come from me, not a shop—each one gets the kind of attention and care only a real guitar lover gives.
